Position Overview

A passionate advocate for organ and tissue donation, this position is responsible for furthering the mission of Lifebanc, by providing overall leadership and strategic direction to all service, operational and business functions to ensure a continued level of growth in donation, the retention of top talent, an excellent level of customer satisfaction and a superior image in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Manages Board relationships and activities to facilitate organizational governance and fiduciary responsibility.
  • Facilitates Board nomination and development process.
  • Prepares, conducts or oversees presentations or compilations of reports to the Board.
  • Provides timely notification to the Board President or the Executive Committee of serious issues
  • Ensures that Board and committee meeting schedules are kept.
  • Prepares Board policies, procedures and Bylaws for Board review and approval.
  • Reports and responds to Board members in a timely manner.
  • Assures that the Board is fully informed of business and financial results, and measures taken to achieve established objectives.

Provides overall direction and leadership in the development and achievement of the mission, goals and objectives to assure the ongoing financial health and operational and strategic growth of Lifebanc.
  • Provides full legal authority and responsibility for the management and provision of all OPO services and oversees development and implementation of policies and procedures considered necessary for effective administration of the OPO, including fiscal operations, quality assurance and performance improvement program, and services furnished under contract or arrangement, including agreements for such services as appointed by the Board.
  • Provides leadership in the conceptualization, development, marketing and implementation of donation services.
  • Assures organizational resources and expertise are available and integrated to fulfill the mission
  • Evaluates organizational functions and services on an ongoing basis to assure short- and long-term objectives are achieved.
  • Identifies areas of opportunity or deficiency in the organization, its operations and/or its strategies; takes proactive or corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensures an effective organizational structure that optimizes OPO current and future performance

Directs business operations so that appropriate systems are in place to support the growth of the organization and of donation in the service area.
  • Responsible for financial performance of the organization.
  • Directs the budget process.
  • Negotiates and/or executes contracts with partner organizations.
  • Consults with counsel to manage legal affairs.
  • Oversees compliance with regulatory requirements and legislative affairs.
  • Ensures and documents that the organization is compliant with applicable local, state and federal guidelines, laws and regulations.

Personifies the organization's mission and values in speech and actions.
  • Demonstrates a passion for healing and saving through organ and tissue donation
  • Protects the image of the organization by demonstrating the highest levels of professional integrity
  • Represents organization at the local, state and national level.
  • Establishes and maintains good relations with local and national transplant personnel.
  • Manages the organization's public affairs.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, public administration, social services, or related area of study; master's degree required.
  • 7+ years of executive-level (C-suite) non-profit experience.
  • Experience in an organ procurement organization (OPO) or, in lieu of OPO experience, senior organ or tissue transplant expertise.
  • Experience in the key areas of strategic planning and execution, program management, board management, financial oversight, policy development, change management and people leadership.
  • Experience managing building and managing community/externally facing relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor important and complex organizational challenges or projects.
  • Ability to develop, communicate and execute long-term strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state laws/regulations and industry guidelines regarding organ and tissue donation.
  • Ability to create a work environment and culture that attracts, retains and engages top talent.
  • Skill in analyzing data to recognize issues and/or trends in order to address/adjust.
  • Ability to be flexible by adapting actions to facilitate the most productive work environment.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational change management ability.
