Position Summary:
The Buyer is the subject matter expert in materials planning and is responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing from suppliers in order to ensure timely delivery of materials to support production needs.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and analyze supplier OTD and keep in constant communication with suppliers to help improve delivery.
  • Manage commodities and establish re-order point levels meeting forecast for production and revenue goals.
  • Negotiate and manage purchase orders for all commodities
  • Coordinate RFQ process, soliciting formal product cost and availability to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Expedite timely responses for quotation acknowledgments and responsiveness to (RFQ) commercial and technical clarifications.
  • Prepare purchase orders for all vendors including those vendors aligned with strategic pricing contracts.
  • Where opportunity exists negotiate and ideate cost reduction initiatives and quality of service improvements.
  • Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems. Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
  • Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
  • Record and track supplier non-conformance.
  • Process returns for non-conforming materials and expedite replacements as necessary.
  • Plan inbound shipments and document on the receiving calendar.
  • Set up part numbers for purchased items as needed, including pricing, costing, lead time, supplier, and ERP planning information.
  • Verify and approve invoices. Resolve any invoice discrepancies with the accounts payable team.
  • Support distribution requisition planning (DRP)
  • Investigate and provide accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Own area of responsibility and communicate daily with manufacturing teams and extended stakeholder.
  • Complete Cross-training on all Purchasing responsibilities
  • Follow and contribute to ISO9001 procedures.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in business or supply chain management
  • On-site 100%
  • Lean Manufacturing experience (e-Kanban)
  • Auction/e-bidding processes
  • Strong knowledge of MRP system (QAD,SAP etc)
  • 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or production and inventory control
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with certainty.
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in and fosters a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen sense of urgency
