GENERAL MANAGER
Job Title: Reports to: Vice President
Location: Dallas,
TX
.lob Duties:
1 Oversees branch
operations
1.1 Participates in strategic planning
1.1.1 Sets division goals according to QLS'
overall goals
1.1.2 Works with departments in the division to
set department goals
1.1.3 Develops systems to track progress toward
goals
1.1.4 Develops future plans of where division
is headed
1.1.4.1 Communicates plans to division upper
management group
1.1.5 Participates in management group meetings
to develop overall strategy of QLS
1.2 Finds ways to improve productivity and to
reduce costs in order to increase the profitability of the operation
1.3 Ensures that the utilization of the
warehouse facility is being properly maximized
1.4 Ensure the development of systems and
procedures for operating and managing multiple physical facilities, human
resources, equipment, and products
1.4.1 Conducts daily communication meeting with
Operations Manager and Office Coordinator
1.4.2 Works with operations and office on
troubleshooting
1.4.3 Works with operations to determine most
efficient facility layout
1.5 Plans, directs, and implements
warehouse operations and administrative support to meet prescribed productivity
and service goals
1.5.1 Posts daily communication notes for all
division employees to read
1.5.2 Works with personnel to find ways to improve work methods and
reduce costs in division
2 Supervises personnel
2.1 Develops and maintains productive work team
2.1.1 Maintains positive and friendly attitude among
plant personnel
2.1.2 Applies sound communication and
motivational techniques
2.1.3 Creates programs to hire, supervise,
train, counsel and discipline subordinates
2.1.4 Aids managers in recruiting and selection
of plant personnel
2.1.5 Oversees and assists in training program
for newly hired personnel
2.1.6 Approves terminations of plant personnel
2.1.7 Reviews documentation of disciplinary
action taken on personnel by managers
2.1.8 Conducts exit interviews with all
terminating employees and records reasons for leaving.
2.2 Implements appropriate performance
evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and terminations
2.3 Responds to employee complaints which have
reach higher levels
3 Oversees
payroll and benefit programs
3.1 Processes new hire information and passes
on to the corporate headquarters
3.2 Distributes any updated information for the
managers to give to employees. ie.. health insurance, dental, life insurance
and 401k
3.3 After approval is met, inputs payroll information
into a spread sheet every two weeks and fax to corporate headquarters
3.4 Holds employee meetings to explain any
changes that may occur in any of the benefits
3.5 Approves all payroll status change forms
submitted by other managers
4 Provides sales
service
4.1 Serves as main contact for new customers at
facility
4.1.1 Explains services
4.1.2 Offers tours
4.2 Prospects past, current and potential
customers
4.3 Generates quote for new and current
customers
4.3.1 Takes down all pertinent information
4.3.2 Works with others to generate quote
4.4 Works with Operations Manager, Regional
Manager, Vice President, President or others to determine equipment needs (or
if can borrow) for certain projects)
5 Provides customer service
5.1 Assists in the establishment of customer service standards for
all accounts
5.2 Communicates these standards to all personnel
5.3 Assures that customer accounts receive the required level of
operations and administrative support
5.4 Maintains appropriate contact with all accounts and respond to
requests when required
5.5 Fields major concerns with customers who have questions about
service received (i.e. missed shipments, inventory discrepancies)
5.6 Ensures all division representatives
interface with customers in professional manner
5.7 Relays progress of current jobs to
customers if necessary to adjust quote (late materials arrival, under- or
overestimated production quantities, etc.)
6 Oversees financial
operations
6.1 Develops and recommends annual operating
budget.
6.2 Develops and manages system of controls to
ensure that service level and operational performance goals are met within
prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters
6.3 Assures that all accounts achieve
predetermined profit standards
6.4 Responsible for Profits and Losses for
location
7 Oversees
Management Information System
7.1 Ensures creation of necessary
warehouse information systems to meet company objectives and facilitate
efficient operations of warehouse
7.2 Ensures necessary computer software and
hardware are purchased from outside vendors
7.3 Provides direction of MIS activities
7.4 Remains knowledgeable regarding changes in
hardware and software technology
8 Manages safety program
8.1 Insures that the facility is in compliance
with all O.S.H.A. mandated requirements
8.1.1 lockout / tagout
8.1.2 hazardous communications
8.1.3 emergency evacuation plan
8.1.4 blood born pathogens
8.1.5 certification of lift truck personnel
8.1.6 CPR training
8.2 Trains all employees that are not
trained in above
9 Maintains
equipment and facilities
9.1 Procures equipment and facilities requited
to assure efficient operation and meet company profit goals
9.1.1 Approves all purchase
9.1.2 Provides guidance to the managers in
regards to equipment maintenance programs
9.2 Maintains company standards of sanitation,
maintenance, security and housekeeping to ensure most efficient operation
9. 2.1 Manages the sanitation program in place to insure that
the facility is in "inspection ready" status at all times
9.3 Keeps informed of relevant new technology
9.3.1 Makes recommendations as applicable
9.4 Maintains rapport with the landlord
and reports any problems with the building
10 Represents company professionally in
area
10.1 Participates in local trade, professional
and civic associations as a representative of the company
10.2 Maintains professional skills with
continuing education
11 Work in other areas as assigned (may include
travel)
11.1 Involved with start-up locations
