Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Benefits Specialist plays a crucial role in the Human Resources team at Edgewood Tahoe Resort. Reporting to the HR Manager, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration and management of the employee benefits program. This includes health, wellness, retirement, and other fringe benefits offered to our valued team members. The specialist will also serve as a key point of contact for employees seeking information or assistance regarding their benefits package.

Essential Functions:
  • Administer and oversee all aspects of the employee benefits program, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits programs, assisting with problem resolution and providing guidance on available resources.
  • Conduct regular reviews of benefit plans and recommend adjustments or enhancements to HR Manager.
  • Collaborate with HR Manager and external vendors to evaluate, select, and manage benefit plan options, providers, and third-party administrators.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee communications related to benefits programs.
  • Process and track all benefits-related invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements related to employee benefits, and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of required government filings and reports related to benefits.

Qualifications / Special Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 2-4 years of HR experience is required, preferably in a hospitality environment.
  • 2-3 years experience working with employee benefits.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English is required; Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of employee benefits laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, especially when dealing with sensitive data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); experience with Paycor a plus.
