Summary
We are currently seeking "best in class" Accounting Managerwith excellent organization skills and a strong tax background. You will be responsible managing the compliance of all indirect tax activities, accurate reporting to our parent company Berkshire Hathaway. You will partner with PwC, who files our local, state, and Federal returns. You will also be responsible for directing all capital and fixed asset activities. In addition, the candidate will work as an integral part of the monthly, quarterly and annual year end close processes which includes financial analysis and application of GAAP accounting principles.You will work closely with business units to ensure that the needs of the Company are consistently met. This includes completing all tasks accurately while working in a very fast paced environment.You'll be a strong and reliable support to company operations, maintaining procedures, communication and customer service. Your efforts allow us to achieve organizational efficiency, while working in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Manage a small team of associates
Accurately and timely processing monthly general ledger processes
Interface with internal managers and executives on Capital status and budget.
Work with external tax preparation experts for direct and indirect tax reporting.
Process journal entries and analyze account balances
Reconcile GL Accounts and identify abnormal activities
Cross-Train in other areas of accounting
Special projects as assigned by management.
Skills and Experience Required for Success
6+ years tax accounting experience
3+ years managing associates or project teams
Proven ability to demonstrate strong analytical and investigative skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Organized
Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to maintain a professional approach at all times
Ability to work well as part of a team environment, with a comfort level working independently as required
Desire and commitment to working in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), JD Edwards proficiency a plus
