Peerbound is a pre-launch, venture-backed SaaS startup, led by a second-time founder (first startup acquired by a public SaaS company) and a small, tight-knit team of seasoned engineers, designers, and operators.
Peerbound's mission is to help companies win their markets by unlocking and amplifying the voices of their customers. Our product is used and loved by a growing roster of leading software companies, with a large addressable market opportunity ahead of us. Generative AI is a foundational aspect of our product and company strategy.
We are backed by top-tier venture funds whose other investments include Square, Palantir, Instacart, Airtable, Webflow, and other breakout technology companies.
Our company is based in New York City, and this is a role where you will be working in our downtown Manhattan office 4 days a week. We have seen that regular in-person collaboration results in the best long-term outcomes for both the company and each individual.
Role Overview:
We are hiring a founding software engineer to own our frontend codebase and contribute, as needed, to our API backend. (We expect time to be split roughly 80% frontend / 20% backend.) You will work closely with our head of engineering, backend engineer, product designer, and CEO to expand our customer story SaaS application.
As an early team member, you will make foundational technology decisions and influence key product decisions that ultimately shape our product and company. Our product is less than six months old, which means you will have the opportunity to build many parts of our application from scratch.
In a typical month, you might complete one or more of these projects:
Build a UI that combines AI and human input to edit audio and video recordings
Work with designers to create a new user experience for browsing through a catalog of digital multimedia content
Add real-time collaboration to our rich semantic content editor
Collaborate with designers to create and improve reusable components
Build out authentication flows to integrate data from 3rd party platforms
Work with backend engineers to design extensions to our GraphQL schema in order to support new features
You're a good fit if you...
Instinctively care about creating a delightful user experience and have a demonstrated track record of building performant, user-friendly software.
Strongly biased toward action. You are comfortable quickly balancing tradeoffs and making decisions even if it means making occasional mistakes.
Enjoy owning problems end-to-end. You can coordinate multiple pieces of a project, across team members and are self-motivated to go and learn any new things needed to make a project successful.
What You Bring:
An eagerness to learn and master a broad range of technologies, and a willingness to work anywhere in the tech stack needed to get the next big feature shipped
Frontend expertise
3-5 years of experience building maintainable and performant web applications using React and Typescript
Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, CI/CD tools, CDNs, and GraphQL
Backend proficiency
1-2 years of experience developing APIs or other backend services
