Job Location and Hours

Our organization is located at 1200 Old Henderson Road, Columbus, OH 43220. Normal work hours are 8:30 am to5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. After an initial 90-day training period in the office, this position can be hybrid, with at least three days in the office each week.

Job Summary

The Development Manager works closely with the Director of Development, to create and implement an annualDevelopment Plan that will ensure financial goals are achieved while staying within budget and meeting timelines.

The Development Manager upholds the organization's mission and vision in all fundraising initiatives. We're looking for a highly skilled fundraiser who can leverage past experience and connections to bring additional funding sources to the table. The ideal candidate will have a track record of grant writing success, experience with major donor cultivation and solicitation, annual campaigns management, the ability to successfully interface with donors, and prior experience utilizing donor database (CRM) and wealth screening systems to identify, deepen, and secure donors relationships.

The Development Manager must be comfortable in a leadership role that demands a creative, business-driven mindset, and lasting relationships with donors and supporters. Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated history within the industry and strong written and verbal communication skills. They should be able to identify previous development plans they produced and highlight their resulting success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grants and Community Sponsorships
  • Research grant opportunities; write and manage grant applications and reports.
  • Maintain all grant and community sponsorship details, deadlines, and fulfillment requirements in coordination with marketing and program teams; collaborate with other staff members to assure all aspectsof grant agreements are met.

Major Gifts, Corporate Support and Planned Giving
  • Assist the Director in managing the organization's major giving society, making regular contact with major donors through phone calls, personal meetings, and impact reports.
  • Utilize CRM to research current and new donors to identify potential sources of major gifts, planned giving, and corporate support.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Development, meet with corporate prospects, individual major gifts prospects, and planned giving prospects to secure gift commitments.

Annual Campaigns
  • Create and implement multi-channel year-end and mid-year appeals and other fundraising campaigns including lapsed donor appeals.
  • Manage monthly donor program; create and implement initiatives to increase members.
  • Donor Database Management
  • Manage donor transactions records and communications, enter data, and maintain donor database.
  • Create queries and reports to analyze, assess, and inform fundraising efforts.

Cultivation and Stewardship
  • Update and coordinate implementation of donor stewardship plan.
  • Create and implement new stewardship initiatives, including impact and annual reports.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 2 years of previous non-profit fundraising experience (not events) required.
  • 1 year of previous experience writing, applying for, and managing grants required.
  • Prior experience managing major donor initiatives preferred.
  • 1 year of previous experience using donor database software required, including using queries to create reports and maintaining donor records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills required.
  • Must be highly self-motivated, able to work in fast paced environment, and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
