MesaQuantum is a venture-backed startup developing chip-scale quantum sensors for advanced position, navigation, and timing applications. About the Role
As the Vice President of Engineering/Product Development, you will play a critical role in leading our technical team to develop innovative solutions that drive the company's mission forward. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering, from product development to manufacturing processes.
You will collaborate closely with external partners to ensure the successful execution of projects and the delivery of high-quality products to our customers. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving engineering excellence in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This role will be based at our office in Boulder CO
Responsibilities:
Provide strategic direction and leadership, fostering innovation and collaboration within the team.
Oversee the product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to commercialization, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, market-leading products.
Initiate and direct new project proposals and collaborations with various academic and federal research labs; conduct feasibility studies and develop project scopes, goals, and deliverables aligned with business objectives.
Recruit and manage top research and engineering talent, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, maintaining high quality and safety standards in all engineering activities.
Required Qualifications:
An advanced technical degree in physics, engineering or equivalent experience.
Exceptional project management skills. Demonstrated experience of leading prototype development from bench top setup to productization.
Working knowledge of precision spectroscopy, ultra-high vacuum packaging, MEMS fabrication and also analog, digital, and RF electronics.
Desired qualifications:
Prior experience developing on Atomic clocks and inertial sensors
Experience working with Vapor cells, atomic beams, laser frequency stabilization and trapping

Pay Range
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, performance bonus, benefits, and equity. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,000 to $180,000 based on experience and qualifications with additional signing and annual performance bonuses.
