The Special Projects & CIP Engineer is a vital part of the Wyyerd team as it supports the OSP Engineering & Construction teams that are responsible for working with outside contractors to enable the rapid deployment of its broadband network.
Responsibilities
? Analyze high level engineering designs to inform project evaluation/selection and partner effectively with design/engineering firms
? Coordinate with municipalities and utility companies to identify capital improvement projects and potential conflicts, and coordinate protect-in-place-measures or relocation design efforts
? The planning, scheduling, design, and deployment of Special Projects, including, but not limited to, Small-Medium Business, Enterprise/Commercial, Multi-Dwelling Units, Joint Trench, City Capital Improvement Projects, and Major crossings
? Provide alternative construction methods that will lessen build costs
? In some cases, create detailed construction designs based on several factors, including, but not limited to, cost analysis and estimates
? Develop cost estimates/analysis and other attributes associated with designs
? Explain cost trends from data sources and identify opportunities for improvements in the Engineering Department.
? Create visualizations that convey Engineering cost metrics that are concise and easy to comprehend.
? Work with local municipalities to understand needs and growth areas
? Find expansion for residential and business opportunities
? Business case development
? Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to efficiency via processes or systems/tools
? Work effectively with other people and teams in the organization
? Other duties as required
Experience/Qualifications
? High school diploma or equivalent
? College degree and/or equivalent 3 to 5 yrs experience in similar field
? Positive attitude, willingness and eagerness to learn new things, team player
? Ability to understand/learn the fiber network construction process
? Working computer knowledge and Microsoft Office knowledge
? Understanding of basic electricity
? Understanding and interpreting plant maps
? Telecommunications wiring color-code competency
? Must have clean driving record
? Ability to pass drug test
? Understanding of ISP services
? Ability to work with others on all responsibilities
