VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS & SUPPLY CHAIN

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Operations & Supply Chain will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the company's operations and supply chain. This includes production processes, plant support systems, staffing, training, equipment maintenance, warehousing, procurement, logistics, and food safety/quality control. The VP will work closely with stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement across all areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Operations:
  • Production Management: Plan, organize, and control production to ensure goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to standard.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish, monitor, and report on production KPIs to provide business leadership with a thorough understanding of capacity, improvement opportunities, and operational oversight.
  • Data Systems: Lead the development of production line data collection systems to improve efficiency, financial reporting, and staffing plans. Collaborate with the CFO to implement Sage ERP system modules.
  • Budgeting: Work with the CFO and President/CEO to complete annual budgets, ensuring CapEx budgets align with strategic growth objectives.
  • Staffing: Manage human resources for the manufacturing line to ensure adequate staffing and minimize overtime.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Document and implement SOPs for manufacturing and operations, including maintenance protocols and equipment replacement plans.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures (OH&S).
  • Food Safety & Quality Control: Collaborate with the FSQA leader to maintain high levels of food safety and quality control, staying ahead of industry requirements and customer expectations.

Supply Chain:
  • Organizational Development: Build and lead a Supply Chain organization capable of supporting significant growth as the company expands to mainstream retailers.
  • Procurement & Logistics: Oversee procurement, planning/scheduling, inventory management, logistics, and strategic sourcing.
  • S&OP Process: Work with the President/CEO and CCO to schedule production around demand forecasts and facilitate monthly S&OP processes.
  • Inventory Management: Establish minimum, maximum, and safety stock targets.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain and materials management functions.
  • Cost Management: Achieve annual cost savings goals and lead material cost reduction efforts, pricing negotiations, and supplier management.
  • Leadership: Provide performance management, mentorship, hiring, development, and training for retention.

Desired Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 15+ years in manufacturing operations and supply chain roles in a multi-plant environment. Experience in logistics and distribution centers is ideal. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience is preferable.
  • Facility Management: Experience in standing up new facilities and production lines, including developing staffing plans.
