We are looking for an accomplished Vice President of Medical Affairs to join their executive team in a pivotal new role reporting directly to the CMO. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of all medical affairs activities, as well as ensuring the successful launch and commercialization of groundbreaking therapies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading product launches, particularly in the rare disease space, and will be instrumental in establishing a robust medical affairs infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the medical affairs strategy aligned with corporate goals and objectives. Provide medical and scientific leadership across the organization, ensuring alignment with clinical development and commercial teams.
  • Team Building: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing medical affairs team. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the department.
  • Product Launches: Lead medical affairs activities related to the launch of new products, with a focus on rare cardiovascular diseases. Develop and execute medical communication and publication plans to support product launches.
  • Medical Strategy and Support: Serve as the primary medical expert, providing strategic input on clinical development programs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the generation of robust clinical and real-world evidence.
  • External Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and patient advocacy groups. Represent the company at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and other external meetings.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure all medical affairs activities comply with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Oversee the development of medical information and educational materials.

Qualifications:

  • MD, PhD, or PharmD with extensive experience in medical affairs.
  • Proven track record of leading successful product launches in the rare disease space, with a preference for cardiovascular expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to integrate scientific and commercial perspectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
