The Head of Procurement is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the purchasing process within the organization. This involves setting purchasing policies, managing purchasing budgets, and overall management of purchasing processes.
They work with other professionals both inside and outside to procure the best value to meet specification. This would include communicating with managers, operations, finance, sales representatives, and executive leadership. They also work with vendors and suppliers to ensure the procurement process runs smoothly and improving it where necessary.
Primary responsibility examples:
Develop centralized procurement programs/systems and develop incentives that add value and efficiency to the organization
Oversee contract development and administration for current procurement policies
Develop bids and proposals; reconcile any discrepancies for all Outside Service Agreements
Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation.
