Zone 5 Technologies is at the forefront of unmanned aerial systems innovation. We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Architect with a deep understanding of aircraft design from concept through to manufacturing. This role requires expertise in modeling and simulation, particularly with Matlab/Simulink, combined with practical experience in aircraft or drone construction.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and design of new unmanned aerial systems, focusing on innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
Utilize Matlab/Simulink for dynamic simulation and modeling of aircraft systems.
Oversee the full lifecycle of aircraft development, from initial concept to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, manufacturing experts, and project managers to ensure project specifications and regulatory compliance are met.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments on new aircraft designs and modifications.
Provide technical leadership and guidance in the construction and testing of scale models, RC aircraft, or drones.
Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in unmanned aerial systems technology.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Strong proficiency in Matlab/Simulink for aerospace applications.
NX, SolidWorks experience
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in aircraft design and development, with a significant focus on unmanned systems.
Hands-on experience in building and testing scale or RC aircraft/drones.
Comprehensive understanding of the full lifecycle of aircraft development from concept to manufacturing.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and FAA regulations pertaining to unmanned aerial systems.
Previous experience in a lead designer or architect role within the aerospace industry.
