Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the chief subject matter expert and consultant for Automation and Electrical aspects of plant, regional, and corporate capital expenditure (capex) projects. Provide valuable insights into deployment, supply chain conditions, adherence to guidelines and standards, and commissioning processes.
Facilitate relationships between our facilities and approved vendors (system integrators, electrical, and networking contractors) to ensure consistent quality and delivery of services and products.
Collaborate with the teams to develop guidelines and procedures that promote standardization and streamline deployments.
Address regional concerns and assess sites within the region that may pose risks to returns due to current electrical and automation conditions.
Identify opportunities for improvement and create project charters for A+E enhancements with a clear path to return on investment (ROI).
Coordinate with IT to enhance site connectivity infrastructure, supporting our Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) initiatives.
Essential Experience and Skills:
Educational Background:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, IT, or Business
OR equivalent experience and certifications in Process Control, Electrical Engineering, IT/OT Architecture
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in aggregate/quarry or similar industrial operations
Familiarity with the mining environment of quarry and plant sites, with a strong safety culture and proper use of PPE
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of control system principles, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and process automation.
Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block, with a preference for experience in multiple control systems.
Expertise in OT network design and cybersecurity, including switch and firewall configurations (Cisco/AB Stratix preferred)
Understanding and experience with medium voltage electrical switchgear (MCC) and electrical safety practices like LOTOTO and Arc Flash Boundaries

Travel Requirements:
Willingness to travel within North America (US/Canada) on short notice (average 60% travel), primarily supporting aggregates and asphalt operations in the northeast and midwest regions of the U.S., with occasional travel to other regions
