Senior Accountant

About the Job

Join Pajarito Powder and help us change the world! We are a leader in developing and commercializing advanced electrocatalysts for fuel cells and electrolyzers. Recently, we received two awards from the US Department of Energy for our work in advancing catalysts for Green Hydrogen.

We are growing rapidly and have an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Primary Responsibilities

DOE Grant Related
• Track government related expenditures.
• Create and submit government grant-related invoices and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with documentation and proper controls for government grants.
• Manage the month-end close process related to grants.

Cost Accounting
• Assist in developing and managing standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead for revenue streams.
• Help with budgeting and tracking major cost drivers and capital expenditures.
• Continuously improve the standard costing system for better decision-making information.
• Collaborate with operations management to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Controls
• Enhance and monitor internal controls over manufacturing and distribution to safeguard inventory and other assets.
• Oversee monthly and annual physical inventory counts.

Other Accounting Functions
• Support monthly and annual close processes.
• Assist with preparing and updating the annual budget.
• Assist or lead in providing documentation for annual tax returns and audits.
• Assist or lead with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders, and processing sales invoices as needed.
• Perform additional accounting functions as needed within and outside of the accounting system (NetSuite).

Education, Training, and Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of experience in government grant work and/or a manufacturing environment, preferably in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.
• In-depth understanding of how manufacturing processes affect financial reporting and controls, including production, inventory control, compliance, and distribution.
• Willingness to work closely with manufacturing and R&D teams to develop processes for proper tracking and control of inventory and COGS.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Education, Training, and Experience Preferred
• Experience with NetSuite ERP.
• Familiarity with Government FAR accounting requirements related to government grants.
• An MBA or other master's degree.
• CPA, CMA, APICS certifications.

Additional Information
• Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
