Chief of Staff, Business Operations Lead

Location: Sterling, VA

Capra Biosciences is seeking a Chief of Staff and Business Operations Lead to support our journey to becoming a leading technology solution for the production of high-value, biobased ingredients. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in supporting a wide variety of functions critical for the development of a product-focused biotechnology platform. The position responsibilities will primarily include sourcing and executing commercial partnerships, providing corporate operations support and public engagement and outreach. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

The Chief of Staff is primarily responsible for supporting Capra's executive team in the critical functions of the growing organization. Key responsibilities for the role include: executing strategic partnership agreements, building our long term sales pipeline, and supporting corporate operations. Specific initial duties are listed below.

o Corporate Development

§ Develop corporate partnerships including initial outreach, pipeline management, and communication

§ Develop and maintain Customer Relationship Management Software for key partnerships

§ Relay learnings and coordinate with Research and Development ("R&D") Teams to help meet critical market demands

§ Support negotiation, execution, and maintenance of strategic partnerships, including joint development agreements, licensing agreements, joint ventures and other collaborative efforts to advance the Company's technology and market access

§ Support R&D Teams by creating project management dashboards

§ Communicate timelines to R&D and Production teams to meet customer pilot and testing needs

o Finance

§ Support corporate business strategy; provide and adjust financial model inputs that represents the business strategy and partnership pipeline

§ Support fundraising efforts

§ Support preparation for board meetings and manage communications to key stakeholders

o Business Administration Support:

§ Support insurance, business registrations, taxes, accounting & audit, human resources

§ Support annual budget process

§ Support on Government Grant and loan applications

Required Job Qualifications:
  • Excitement to work in a fast-paced environment and help build a venture-backed biotech company
  • Ability to work autonomously to resolve challenges
  • MBA or minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in chemical and/or biological industry in a business role
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication (written, verbal) to both internal and external parties
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to successfully accomplish multiple objectives on short deadlines
  • Proficiency in reviewing and analyzing Excel based financial metrics, including financial statements, budgets, sales pipelines, and contribution margins.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to process, analyze, communicate complex data sets to support business strategy
  • US work authorization

Preferred Qualifications
  • BA, MS or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, or chemical engineering or similar
  • Experience developing sales, marketing and development plans for fine or specialty chemicals into cosmetics, personal care, or industrial markets
  • Experience working with project management software systems
