Senior Network Engineer

Remote (Atlanta GA, or Fresco TX) Need to travel to office once in a while.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer with expertise in Equinix Network Edge, Palo Alto firewalls, VPN technologies, and cloud networking. The successful candidate will lead the migration of customer connections into Equinix data centers, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal impact on operations. This role will involve collaborating with clients' engineering teams, deploying virtual Palo Alto appliances, fine-tuning routing configurations, and providing comprehensive support throughout the migration process.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with clients' engineering teams to understand their connectivity requirements and develop migration plans for moving customer connections into Equinix data centers.

Deploy and configure Palo Alto virtual appliances to terminate VPN connections securely and efficiently, ensuring compatibility with Equinix Network Edge or cloud exchange fabric.

Coordinate with Equinix technical teams to provision network resources and establish connectivity for customer deployments, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.

Lead the migration of customer connections in batches or groups, overseeing IP address allocations, tunnel configurations, and routing adjustments to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.

Work closely with clients' engineering teams to set up encryption domains, establish VPN tunnels, and conduct thorough testing to validate connectivity and performance.

Fine-tune routing configurations on the back end to optimize traffic flow and ensure efficient delivery of customer applications and services.

Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to VPN connectivity, routing, or performance during and after the migration process, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to address concerns promptly.

Document all configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge transfer and support future migrations or upgrades.

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in cloud networking, security, and routing, to inform decision-making and enhance service offerings.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Over 10 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on VPN technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and cloud networking.

Hands-on experience with Equinix Network Edge or cloud exchange fabric, including provisioning, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Strong understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, with experience in optimizing routing configurations for performance and reliability.

Proficiency in troubleshooting network connectivity issues using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, and packet analyzers.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients' engineering teams and internal stakeholders.

Relevant certifications such as Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent certifications are a plus.
