POSITION SUMMARY

The Department Manager will be responsible for evaluating workload requirements and implementation of operational strategies to meet departmental and building goals. Provide performance feedback and direction to develop skills sets and career paths for direct reports. Reports daily production results and collaborates with peers to develop long and short-term strategies. Uphold standards and improve processes that impact production, accuracy and goal attainment.

• Bealls Distribution Center Support Partners - Transportation, Technology, Human Resources, Safety, Maintenance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for supporting business needs through development of Supervisors and building bench of talent, which includes interviewing, hiring, and performance management
• Partner with Operations Manager to evaluate daily workload requirements and ensure the appropriate daily scheduling of resources to meet productivity, accuracy and service goals
• Maintain presence within assigned Department to be available for questions from Supervisors and provide direction and feedback
• Provide direct, daily supervision of department Supervisors by following up on staffing, workload planning, associate coaching and feedback and ensuring department goals are achieved
• Collaborate with Department Managers to ensure building goals are met on a consistent basis
• Perform administrative duties such as time keeping, attendance calendars, performance reviews and associate forms in an accurate and timely manner
• Reports daily department production results including areas of strength and areas of opportunity
• Drive business by evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other production-driven reports
  • Uphold company policies and procedures and deliver company established disciplinary procedures for policy violations and noncompliance
  • Collaborate with others to seek out opportunities to brainstorm, improve and reinvent work processes. Develop short and long-term strategies for execution.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

• Responsible for maintaining a clean/safe work environment
• Maintain confidentiality of all company and customer information
  • Responsible for ensuring OSHA, C-TPAT and other safety compliance within the warehouse
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads Supervisors on a daily basis through activities including (but not restricted to) hiring, motivating, delegating, promoting, counseling and coaching, performance appraisals and pay-rate reviews; scheduling and termination
  • Indirect oversight of hourly associates in the assigned department of the Distribution Center

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Must have adequate vision, speech, hearing, and physical ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
• Must have full body rotation and mobility (i.e., bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, kneeling, grasping etc.)
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. when necessary to handle/move cartons of merchandise
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to use stairs to complete essential functions where the department is located
• Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to changing work requirements
• Must have good awareness of surroundings

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
• 5 years supervisory experience preferred
• Retail experience (i.e. operations, logistics, retail, supply chain, transportation, manufacturing and distribution) is a plus
• Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Haitian Creole) is preferred
  • Ability to communicate logically and clearly, both written and verbally
  • Computer skills, including Word, Excel, and database navigational skills

• Must be able to work flexible hours and adapt to changing work requirements
• Self-directed, multi-tasking, hands on, and action oriented with the ability to perform in high pressure and dynamic situations
