Our client is a tech-focused Private Equity firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area making control buyout investments.

Our client is actively recruiting for a Sourcing Associate to join their team. The role offers unique exposure to private equity investing as the Sourcing Associate is responsible for assisting the team with deal origination, market research and select aspects of investment diligence. The Sourcing Associate will build and manage a pipeline targeting both platform majority investments and add-on acquisitions.

This is an opportunity to work closely with a tight-knit team of investment professionals in a growth-oriented, dynamic firm.

The primary responsibility of the Associate will be to build relationships with business owners and investment bankers in order to find new investment opportunities. The Associate will be creating and driving business relationships for a significant part of the day. Cold calling and outbound email marketing to sophisticated owners of privately held companies is a large and crucial part of the role.

The Associate will communicate regularly to build deep relationships with C-Level executives and network directly with business owners in industries of interest. The Associate will manage a pipeline of opportunities from origination to deal close, interact with both companies and intermediaries, process and manage deals by logging them into the firm's database, and provide written and verbal feedback on opportunities. The Associate will receive hands-on training from and direct exposure to highly experienced senior private equity professionals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include deal origination, pipeline and account management, and industry research. The sourcing Associate will be involved with and responsible for:

  • Creating, developing, and managing a pipeline of businesses and executive level contacts
  • Creating and prosecuting thematic investment theses
  • Conducting extensive market research to both identify potential new investment opportunities and deliver sector insights to the broader team
  • Working on selected internal projects and strategic initiatives
  • Assisting with investment due diligence including business, market, management, competitive, and legal

The individual should have strong oral and written communication skills, outstanding listening skills, and a high-level of emotional intelligence. The candidate must be able to adapt and learn quickly and have the ability to grasp finance and sector- specific business terminology and concepts. They should also possess the ability to work under limited supervision.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in an investment banking, private equity, management consulting or business development role with a track record of success
  • Undergraduate degree with a history of strong academic performance
  • Knowledge of and interest in private equity and current M&A trends
  • Self-starter with exceptionally strong work ethic, who can handle projects from start to finish while balancing multiple, competing deadlines
