INTRODUCTION:

Helping People Succeed (HPS) is a transformative nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to empowering individuals across various societal segments since its inception in 1964. Originally founded as the Pioneer Occupational Center for the Handicapped by parents seeking better opportunities for their children with disabilities, HPS has significantly evolved over the decades. From its early days focused on arts and crafts and home economics, the organization transitioned to vocational training and employment services, reflecting its dynamic response to community needs. Today, HPS serves over 7,500 individuals annually across Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Indian River counties, including families at risk of abuse or neglect, newborns, students with behavioral or mental health issues, and adults with disabilities. The organization's core mission is to foster potential, create hope, and construct futures through robust programs in education, counseling, training, and employment, supported by a dedicated staff of over 100 employees.

Over the years, HPS has undergone several name changes to reflect its expanding services, from Tri-County Rehabilitation Center to Tri-County TEC, and finally to Helping People Succeed in 2004. This name change marked its recognition of the diversity of its programs which include Behavioral Health Services and the innovative BRAIN (Building Readiness Among Infants Now) program. Additionally, its Helping People Succeed Foundation plays a crucial role in fundraising and public awareness, critical for its growth. As it continues to help children prepare for school and supports adults in securing and retaining employment, HPS remains a pivotal force in enhancing the quality of life and economic stability of the region. Currently, as HPS seeks new leadership following the retirement of its long-serving CEO, it stands on the precipice of a new era, promising continued dedication to its mission and further expansion of its impactful services. https://www.hpsfl.org
