Job Description:

Summary of the position:

The Director of Sustainability is responsible for leading the team of professionals deploying and sustaining a world class sustainability program to improve the organization's impact to the environment. In this role you will collaborate with Supply Chain, Product Design, Research and Development, Human Resources, Legal and the Executive Team in executing and defining vision, strategy, and methodologies that incorporate sustainability elements throughout the entire supply chain-design, manufacturing, and distribution of products. The team will lead high visibility sustainability projects, including but not limited to carbon footprint reduction, circular economy, waste management and sustainable product eco design.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • They will have a strong understanding of the global sustainability landscape, be knowledgeable in environmental sustainability, and have experience in managing and executing sustainability projects.
  • Research, benchmark, and deploys world-class sustainability methodologies to support the organization's strategy.
  • Lead external reporting process for sustainability programming and work with reporting and rating agencies to communicate priorities, programing, and progress.
  • Works with functional leaders to establish and integrate sustainability best practices into product designs and product-related processes.
  • Monitor progress of sustainability initiatives and recommend changes to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Manages a global sustainability portfolio supporting the strategy, including but not limited to circular economy, carbon footprint reduction, resource conservation, waste management, and product innovation.
  • influences and drives a sustainability culture.
  • Develop educational materials to increase employee awareness and engagement in sustainability initiatives.
  • Justifies and leads specific sustainability projects that leverage internal talent's expertise and skills, including identifying and pursuing innovation opportunities.
  • Defines applicable sustainability metrics (and associated supporting data collection methods) to demonstrate companywide progress towards achieving sustainability objectives.
  • Works with our parent company to ensure compliance to reporting needs through data collection, reporting, data base development.
  • Partner cross-functionally with the entire value chain to bring this work to life for our customers.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field

Professional experience:
  • 5 years of progressive experience in a sustainability-related role
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in industrial/manufacturing/capital equipment environment
  • 5+ years of experience in managing a team in both direct and indirect
  • Experience with operating in a matrixed organization including cross-departmental initiatives required
  • Experience with remanufacturing preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of the global sustainability landscape
  • Experience in leading projects or programs of increasing complexity
  • Experience in remanufacturing preferred
  • Experience in ESG preferred
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills are required.
