Summary:

Responsible for ensuring the effective management and maintenance of the Company's physical facilities and grounds and implementation, enforcement, and oversight of health, safety, and environmental programs.

Essential Functions:

Facilities Management
• Ensure compliance with all building codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Monitor and manage facility-related budgets, including tracking expenses and preparing cost estimates.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and efficiency of building systems.
• Maintain the Company's Waste Management program and stay current with government regulations that impact the program.
• Schedule and assign duties in carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, roofing, building security, and landscaping.
• Inspect and identify building repairs.
• Coordinate and work with internal maintenance and outside contractors for building modifications, maintenance, and repairs.
• Oversee construction management projects.
• Unlock and open the building in the mornings.

Safety and Compliance
• Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Investigate and report on workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and maintain policies, records, and documentation related to safety and compliance activities.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Develop and conduct safety training or education programs that demonstrate the proper use of safety equipment and a clear understanding of safety policy and procedures.
• Investigate safety and health-related complaints to ensure compliance with public health and safety regulations.
• Manage and conduct monthly Safety Committee meetings.

Emergency Management
• Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and disaster recovery plans.
• Coordinate emergency drills and training sessions to ensure employee preparedness.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency services and coordinate emergency responses.

Sustainability and Environmental Management
• Promote sustainable practices within the organization, including waste reduction, recycling, and energy conservation initiatives.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance and recommend improvements to reduce the company's environmental impact.

Policy
• Regular attendance and compliance with the Company's policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage custodial staff and the cleanliness of the building.
• Assist with social audit preparations.
• Cultivate a positive and encouraging work environment.
• Implement and ensure company and departmental policies and procedures are followed.
• Monitor employee performance, complete employee evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
• Coach and mentor employees.
• Resolve employee relation and departmental issues.
• Manage attendance and employee time off.
• Review time cards for accuracy and approve time cards for payroll.

Physical Demands:
• May sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Walk on level and unlevel surfaces, use stairs, and climb ladders.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Bend, reach, crawl, grasp and use of fine motor skills.

Work Environment:
• Exposure to noises, dust, and various hazardous chemicals used in the cleaning and manufacturing process.
• This position works in an office outside of the company's "secure area" of the building.
• Must be metal-free.
• Individuals working in the "secure area" must follow the Company's Secure Area Dress Code and Security policies and procedures. All clothing must be free from metal, and no metal may be worn into the secure area of the building. Any metal inside or outside the body due to a medical condition must be visually inspected, or reasonable accommodations may be made.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Requires opening the building Monday through Friday and approximately two Saturdays a month. Must be able to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours.

Travel:

Minimal local travel as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent education or experience with Occupational Safety.
• Knowledge of EPA, OEPA, OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, and environmental rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state, and local.
• Three or more years experience in an OSHA compliance or safety role.

Preferred Education and Experience:
• Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
