Volt is immediately hiring a Lab Tech in Sebastopol, CA.


As a Lab tech, you will:

Perform all routine analyses of musts and wines, including collecting tank and barrel
samples. Analysis includes but is not limited to pH, VA, TA, Free S02, Total SO2, and
heat/cold stability.
• Maintain laboratory quality using standards and controls.
• Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working order. Follow diagnostic steps to problem
solve equipment issues. Troubles shoot any problems that the equipment may have.
• Identify and investigate out-of-specification controls, standards, and analysis.
• Troubleshoot the problems and make recommendations for corrective action.
• Recognize out of range wine analysis and take action to communicate finding.
• Monitor tank fermentations during harvest and report anomalies.
• Prepare trials and evaluations as required by the winemaking team.
• Maintain a clean, orderly lab and understand the use of personal protective equipment.
• Comply with all safety regulations and safe storage of chemicals and supplies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in mathematics; be able to perform all calculations the lab uses.
• Chemical preparation (acids, bases, buffers, reference standards)
Record and retrieve analytical results.
• Prepare written reports and summaries that describe findings and analysis trends.
• Track and schedule preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Perform sanitation QC checks of tanks, lines, and production equipment.

This is a Part-Time opportunity. Monday-Friday, 7:30am-1pm or TBD


The ideal candidate will have:

• Regular working schedule to include weekends and holidays as needed
• Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
• Ability to lift at least 45 pounds (case of wine)
• Ability to follow instructions and take direction
• Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with
other employees
• Valid California Driver's license and clean DMV report
Education and professional experience
• B.S. or higher in Enology, Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a wine laboratory


Pay Rate: $19.00-24.00/Hour Depending on Experience
