Job Description:



As a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, you will oversee the direction and assignment of work within your identified manufacturing engineering (ME) & industrial engineering (IE) group. You will be a first line leader for all ME & IE needs for your group, maintaining relationships with direct reports as well as stakeholders within the manufacturing facility and externally. This is a working supervisory role, and the supervisor will be required to perform engineering work as necessary to achieve the goals of the department.



Primary Responsibilities:



  • Directs the activities and provides guidance to ME & IE team to meet project objectives.

  • Utilizes relevant industry standards and specifications to ensure compliant product development.

  • Provides engineering support for assigned products lines, implementing improvements to better meet customer and company needs.

  • Develops engineering and quality control tests/metrics for production reliability.

  • Cultivates positive relationships with manufacturing personnel, addressing manufacturing issues, implementing cost-saving measures, and coordinating VAVE projects.

  • Establishes test requirements and procedures for new or modified products to ensure quality and functionality.

  • Directly supervises a team of engineers, carrying out supervisory, coaching, and performance management responsibilities.

  • Serves as a direct liaison between the production team and ME & IE team to align strategies and address customer needs effectively.

  • Conducts regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide feedback, support professional development, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

  • Manages bi-annual talent management process for employees, maintaining goals of the department.

  • Provides production support through fixturing, tooling, and CNC programming for assigned product lines.

  • Stays informed of the company's product offerings within assigned area of involvement.

  • Supports leadership for key manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, standard work events, value stream map events, safety improvements, capital projects, and labor efficiency improvements.

  • Develops new production techniques and assists with troubleshooting the manufacturing process.

  • Develops and maintains simple, logic-based software/databases for product line needs.

  • Identifies, documents, and presents cost savings ideas with justification and ROI calculations.

  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.




Required Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate in an effective manner with all levels of employees.

  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.

  • Outstanding PC/Systems knowledge and skills including 2D and 3D CAD software and PLM databases.

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees, customers, and outside professionals.

  • Knowledge dealing with manufacturing situations, quality standards, product development, CAD/CAM, technical specifications, and project management.

  • Travel may be required occasionally.




Required Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical degree.

  • 4 to 7 years of relevant external manufacturing engineering and leadership experience - or - 3 to 5 years of excelling relevant Mueller manufacturing experience, exhibiting strong leadership qualities.




Preferred:



  • Direct experience in valves, controls, or similar applicable industrial products is desirable.

  • Knowledge of AWWA valve specifications.

  • Experience using JD Edward E1 ERP system a major plus.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt desired.




Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between

  • Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions.

  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.

  • Ability to occasionally stoop, crouch, or kneel.
