Purpose Statement
The roll shop NDT level II technician performs calibrations, non-destructive tests, evaluates test results in determining component acceptance according to written processes / procedures and submits electronic reporting results. The technician must be qualified to set up equipment, equipment calibration checks, perform inspections, interpret inspection results, evaluate results and submit electronic reports to customer detailing inspection findings. The technician is familiar with the test procedures, work scope and knows the limitations of the method of NDT being used. The technician will organize and report results of NDT directly to customer. The technician shall be familiar with paper machine rolls and equipment.
Job Responsibilities and Tasks
Set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment
Perform inspection to detect discontinuities, defects, flaws or anomalies using NDT methods of inspection
Follow inspection procedures for proper examination of components, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
Perform testing in accordance with procedures or standards and evaluate results
Collect, organize and electronically report inspection results
Communicate and interface with customers and management
Perform specialized inspections
Ensure rolls / components requiring inspections within shop inventory is maintained
May instruct and supervise others at times
Perform job related duties as assigned by management
Education, professional experience and qualifications preferred/ required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Level II UT, MT, PT training and certifications
Training background in NDT methods and procedures
Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections
Knowledge of NDT equipment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required
Excellent communication skills including correct basic grammar, spelling, punctuation.
Ability to safely carry out oral and written work instructions

Physical & Mental Qualifications
Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, accommodation and color vision
Moving, carrying, lifting, objects in excess of 50 lbs
Climbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffolding
Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
Work in and near industrial hazards.
Travel to other shops to cover for vacations/illnesses may be required
