OPPORTUNITY:





The successful candidate will develop and implement CalARP and/or PSM-RMP programs, related training and guide plant employees accordingly. He/she will be part of a team that strives to maintain a safe, quality-minded work environment with excellent employee relations and the belief that Saputo is the employer of choice.




ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Overall responsibility for the implementation and compliance of CalARP and/or OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs and assist in maintaining the integrity of the plant's ammonia and related cooling process systems.



  • Provide assistance in trouble shooting refrigeration system problems and develop plans for future improvements.



  • Provide technical and CalARP/PSM/RMP related training as required.



  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on the system and review maintenance tasks/PMs on the system to ensure items are completed correctly and in a timely manner.



  • Review program elements regularly to maintain accuracy and update as needed.



  • Establish a plant CalARP/PSM team. Hold routine meetings and communicate results to plant and Refrigeration Services team.



  • Work with approved contractors and/or internal resources to perform audits, maintenance and inspections on the system and other audits/inspections of plant performance and activities.



  • Educate/train personnel on program aspects to include: hazard recognition, incident investigation, mechanical integrity inspections and how to address gaps.



  • Work with Saputo's Refrigeration Services team to implement corporate program management aspects.



  • Lead incident investigation activities related to ammonia systems including report completion and communications to the plant, Refrigeration Services and other corporate groups.



  • Provide technical support for the plant maintenance supervisor/manager in CalARP and/or PSM & RMP and participate on any teams/projects as needed including soliciting quotes for ammonia system work from vendors.



  • Develop a system for addressing any identified deficiencies from audits, inspections or service work, including working with APSM software, to log action items and tracking them to completion.



  • Maintain a working knowledge and oversight of refrigeration systems, CalARP, PSM (14 elements), RMP, ARM and applicable state and federal rules and regulations and applicable refrigeration codes and standards.



  • Provide direction and expertise to facility management to ensure that CalARP/PSM-RMP requirements are met.



  • Participate in routine Saputo Refrigeration Services team & PSM Specialists conference calls.



  • Provide guidance and support during agency inspections as the program area technical subject matter expert.



  • Support Saputo Refrigeration Services, Health & Safety, Risk Management and Environmental Department initiatives and work closely with key personnel from these departments.



  • Perform other duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Industrial Risk Management, or the equivalent combination of experience and education and 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred.



  • Familiarity with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems, CalARP, PSM, RMP, process instrumentation and process drawings, PLC's preferred.



  • Ability to develop relationships and effectively influence at all levels internally (i.e. management teams) and externally (regulators).



  • Strong strategic thinking skills with broad-based business acumen and experience, with proven ability to identify opportunities and lead change initiatives.



  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, prioritization, time management, organizational and analytical skills.



  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.



  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, project & manufacturing software.
