General Summary: Under the direction of the VP of Finance and CFO Comptroller, the Director of Internal Reporting is responsible for management of MCC's budget and budget processes, and development of internal reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Budgeting
Oversees the development and growth of the College's budget and the budgeting process
Develops budgetary controls for negative budget reports, budget transfers/additions, and budget report distribution
Analyzes and reports on current and past budgets, prepares and justifies budget requests and allocates funds according to spending plan.
Develops a more robust budgeting process for full-time and part-time payroll budgeting
Works with the Comptroller in implementing the budget and payroll projections
Builds internal budgeting reports for the use of the college community
Internal Reporting
Trains to become a subject matter expert in HelioCampus Tableau reporting to build and create reporting for both the finance department and the MCC community
Develops a process to ensure all newcomers to MCC receive the proper training in Banner, Argos and HelioCampus Tableau in relation to their positions
Works with the Comptroller to collaborate to ensure all reporting requirements are met, maintained, and updated utilizing Helio, Argos, or Banner.
Provides accurate and timely information and reporting to senior management
Responsible for maintaining and managing the user security and profiles for the College's and Foundation's financial system and the user approval records for the College's decentralized purchasing system.
Grant Development
In collaboration with the Budget and Grants Staff, monitors grants database for accuracy.
Oversees accuracy of part-time payroll reports for and works with cost center managers and grant program managers to enter part-time positions into Banner Payroll system.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Where appropriate and in coordination with the Comptroller, develops fiscal policies and procedures related to financial and business practices of the College.
Serves on internal and external committees, groups, and professional associations as needed and appropriate.
Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
Maintains current knowledge of trends and practices in the field through peer association, attendance at seminars, study, and review of literature.
Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Duties require knowledge of budgeting, grant administration and accounting, and financial reporting equivalent to completion of a Master's degree and five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of the College's needs in relation to financial affairs.
Leadership, planning, management, organizational, and supervisory skills.
Extensive experience in accounting and financial service systems such as Argos, Tableau, Banner, and Microsoft Access.
Knowledge of fiscal reporting and management systems.
Extensive knowledge of state and college accounting practices and procedures.
Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the College with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of college activities.
Ability to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and goals for the College.
Ability to recognize College-wide priorities and work cooperatively to support their accomplishment.
