EVENING & NIGHT POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Primary Job Purpose:

To provide person directed care to those people who live at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center with an additional focus including administering medication, reporting changes, collecting samples, and recording medication dosages.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.


  • Assist in implementing care of neighbors by becoming familiar with each plan of care.

  • Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to neighbors.

  • Coordinate with different nurses to assist with neighbor care and medications.

  • Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.

  • Record medication dosages and times given.

  • Gather samples for analysis.

  • Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.

  • Uphold all health and safety standards.

  • Respond to neighbor emergency call signals to identify patient needs

  • Provides for privacy while giving personal care.

  • Provides physical comfort by assisting neighbors with activities of daily living.

  • Gives mental, emotional, and physical support in accordance with care plans.

  • Always treat neighbors with dignity and respect.

  • Demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect toward the neighbors, and encourages neighbors to be mentally active and as independent as possible.

  • Provide meals, snacks and fluids and assists neighbors to eat when needed.

  • Provide preventative skin care/pressure ulcer prevention measures; i.e., turning, repositioning, shifting weight, bridging, special cushions and monitoring.

  • Perform basic vital sign skills: i.e., Temperature, Pulse, Respirations, and Blood Pressure.

  • Assist with ambulation or mobility needs using the proper lift and/or gait belt according to established lift policy.

  • Provide report to on-coming shift.

  • Maintain awareness of changes in neighbors’ condition and appropriately reports abnormal changes to the charge nurse.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPPA regulations.

  • In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.

Education and Experience:


  • Graduate of an approved Medication Aide program and hold a current Colorado Medication Aide license. Experience in SNF setting is preferred. Understands the Eden Alternative Principles and is able to lead others in implementing person-directed care.

Non-Essential Job Functions:


  • May participate in Eben Ezer committees.

  • Will attend all-staff meetings and department meetings as instructed.

Other Skills and Abilities:


  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team and in cooperation with many departments.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.


  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively.

  • Maintain punctuality when reporting to work and leaving work.

  • Must demonstrate the willingness and ability to learn and perform all duties required by the Nursing Department.

  • Ability to work and converse in a polite manner with residents, their families, co-workers, and others associated with the position on a daily basis.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions


  • Must be able to follow safety measures to protect residents, self, and co-workers.

Material and Equipment used but not limited to:


  • Equipment associated with patient cares such as lifts, tubs, wheelchairs, gait belts, specialty beds, blood pressure cuff, etc.

  • Use of telephone, and call bell paging system.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:


  • Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair. Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance.

  • Frequently walks, stands, bends, lifts, pushes.

  • Employee will be working in a busy clinical environment which includes being on feet up to 90% of the shift. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather).

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to blood borne pathogens; works near moving mechanical parts.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Working Hours:

As scheduled by the Director of Nursing and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Location: 

This is not a remote position and work must be performed in-person.
