Position: Software Engineer III



Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086



Duties: Design, develop, and implement highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and reactive microservices using Java, Scala, Camel, and RESTful architecture for Walmart's Returns Application Platform. Create cloud-native, distributed, high-performing, and scalable microservices to enhance the overall Return Ecosystem. Design and develop Walmart's backend Return Applications Platform catering to both the USA and International markets. Leverage advanced data structures and algorithms to efficiently develop the Walmart Returns Application, resulting in optimized performance and streamlined processes. Implement proactive and effective corrective measures to detect and mitigate instances of fraud occurring in the Returns business operations. Utilize robust fraud detection techniques to identify fraudulent activities and promptly implement necessary actions to address and prevent future occurrences. Develop business features that optimize the Returns user and system experiences. Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information on impact, criticality, possible root cause; performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. Develop comprehensive unit and functional tests to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications created. Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business; obtaining cross-function approvals; driving proof-of-concept; and implementing prototypes to validate ideas. Implement new features using Spark with Scala, Java, and Kafka streaming and integrating with CI/CD pipelines. Maintain and enhancing existing codebases as well as conducting thorough peer code reviews to ensure code quality and facilitate collaborative improvements. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code. Contribute to database query optimization and implement strategies to enhance overall database performance, ensuring efficient and seamless data retrieval and management. Develop integrations with monitoring systems to track application performance trends.



Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.



Skills required: Experience designing and developing APIs using Java and Python programming languages. Experience with orchestration APIs using Kubernetes and Docker. Experience with streaming services using messaging queues and Swagger API documentation. Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD). Experience using cloud provider to host applications. Experience with Service Now and Jira issue tracking tools. Experience with GitHub codebase repository. Experience with Azure DB and BigQuery. Employer will accept any amount of professional experience with the required skills.



Salary Range: $147,481/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
