The Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager of Information Security, the Information Security Intern will assist in a variety of departmental responsibilities. Responsibilities will focus in providing assistance to the Vulnerability Remediation team in a wide variety of ongoing program enhancements including support for ongoing deployment and enhancement of the vulnerability remediation team, researching and contributing to information security tickets and concerns. Additional responsibilities may include conducting preliminary research for risk assessments, providing support for remedation activities and supporting Mass General Brigham's electronic governance, risk and compliance platform (ARCHER). In addition, based on the incumbent Intern's interests and aptitudes, this candidate will have the opportunity to engage in special projects as time and availability allow.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities:



• Review vulnerabilities within Tenable and CrowdStrike


• Support security hardening checklists and other work aids designed to support community of user's in achieving baseline security control requirements.


• Provide support for special projects including risk remediation activities and project management support


• Business process refinement and re-engineering


• Data rationalization, normalization and reporting


• ServiceNow Ticketing


• Support customer needs based on inquiries


• Develop training or perform outreach regarding customer inquiries


• Supporting tasks associated with governance risk compliance platform (ARCHER)


• Support Information Security Officers, security operations or others for special projects as needed and available


• Other duties as assigned



Working Conditions:



• Hybrid mainly working remotely with the option to go into office/hospitals


• Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear such as gloves and mask (PPE).


• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.


• The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.



Qualifications

• High school diploma


• College sophomore, junior or senior, ideally with a concentration in Computer Science, Informatics, Cybersecurity, or other related fields


Skills/Abilities/Competencies:


• Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills


• Some technical experience with configuring security tools, developing diagrams and cloud computing


• Ability to interact with people from all organizational levels


• Self-directed and capable of independent work with strong application of critical thinking


• Ability to be flexible, versatile, and adaptable in day-to-day activities conducted in a multi-site environment


• Detail oriented


• Strong computer skills in a Microsoft environment


• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite


• Knowledge of database management a plus


• Some information security background
