Job Summary/Basic Function:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Director of Web Technology to lead our web development and oversee all aspects of our web technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience managing external-facing websites and internal intranet systems and a deep understanding of backend duties, including hosting, security, and web infrastructure.

Leadership and Management:
  • Provide strategic leadership and technical direction for web initiatives, including external websites and the intranet.
  • Manage external technical resources and administrators, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to succeed.
  • Devise recommendations for future capabilities and resources to form a web technology team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Website and Intranet Management:
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications on the continued development, maintenance, and optimization of all external-facing websites.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of internal intranet systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective web solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure websites and intranets are user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with industry best practices.

Backend Duties:
  • Manage web hosting environments and ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect against cyber threats and ensure data integrity.
  • Oversee web infrastructure, including servers, databases, and content management systems (CMS), to support the organization’s web presence.

Technical Strategy and Innovation:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technical strategy to drive innovation and enhance the organization’s web capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in web development, hosting, and security, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to streamline web development and management workflows.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate with organizational stakeholders, including marketing, IT, and business units, to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, effectively communicating technical concepts and solutions to stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners to support web initiatives.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus. A c
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior leadership role overseeing web technology and development teams.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience is acceptable.
  • Extensive experience with website and intranet management, including design, development, and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of backend technologies, including web hosting, security, and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress or other Popular Modern CMS Platforms
  • Proficiency in web development languages and frameworks related to WordPress (PHP, React, JavaScript).
  • Hands-on experience with web servers (e.g., Apache, Nginx), databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • In-depth knowledge of web security principles and best practices
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
