Job Summary


This position is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting passengers to their destination on campus and off campus. He/She will assume the responsibility of operating all vehicles of various sizes; washing and cleaning all vehicles as required; making extracurricular trips as necessary and performing related duties as assigned. Must be able to be away from home for multiple days on overnight trips.



Responsibilities


Job duties and responsibilities include- Provides safe bus transportation services for students and employees along campus routes in accordance with defined schedules during day or night shifts.; Provides safe bus transportation services for students and employees on shuttle buses that include charter trips inside the local.; Be knowledgeable and follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations in regards to passenger carrier vehicles and follow all department policies and procedures when performing daily job duties and when making decisions to ensure passenger safety.; Perform safety precautions and daily routines including pre and post trips on university vehicles and reporting maintenance issues.; Take annual refresher training on department procedures as wen as additional training as provided: stay up to date on all driver certifications/licenses (CDL and DOT medical card).



Required Qualifications


Qualifications include- Must have an excellent driving record.; High school diploma or equivalent.; At least five years of driving experience.; Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement and DOT Medical Card.



Proposed Salary


The salary for this position is $18.50 per hour and includes full benefits.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Ability to work well with team members at all times by being able to communicate effectively on a day-to-day basis, as well as contribute to the team by being supportive of one another and of departmental goals and vision.; Ability to perform all duties following safety procedures and policies.; Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.; Must be able to independently make logical decisions and problem solve in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.; Knowledge of the current federal, state, and local regulations, procedures, and policies including Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.; Perform daily tasks to prevent safety hazards and situations including pre and post trips of university vehicles.; Ability to learn and apply training to day-to-day job duties as well as ability to stay up to date on all certifications/ licenses.; Must possess strong interpersonal skills which include politeness and friendliness and the ability to successfully interact with others in a professional manner.; This position requires great customer service at all times, as one must be able to effectively communicate via by phone, email, or in person to customers when on route and charter trips; also requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing by writing detailed and accurate reports.; In addition, this position requires the ability to form relationships with university stakeholders including students, faculty, and staff.; Must have good computer skills with the ability to utilize/access email and other required programs online schedule, and other university related programs such as online expense and cash advance software; as well as ability to use technology including GPS, tracking and reporting interface system, and radio.
