Vertical Transportation Inspector

Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Queens, NY to join our Facilities CM Department as a vertical transportation inspector. This position will be supporting ongoing projects at the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

Responsibilities


  • Inspect Vertical transportation (elevator and escalator) installation and repair for compliance with application construction codes and technical standards.
  • Provide innovative, technical excellence, and on-time performance.
  • Conduct acceptance level inspections of traction and hydraulic elevators, escalators, moving walks.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports for all vertical transportation units.
  • Conducts reviews and verifications of construction schedules, baseline, and updates, in coordination with the client.
  • Responsible for maintaining manning reports, payroll certifications and other labor documentation from the contractor.
  • Log and coordinate with the designer to respond to Contractors' submittals, RFI's and shop drawings.
  • Prepare punch lists with the owner upon completion of the project.

Requirements :


  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff both in person and via two-way communications.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in diversified field vertical transportation inspections (elevator\escalator\moving walks\dumb waiter, vertical platform lifts, etc.).
  • Self-starter, organized, coordinating/scheduling own inspections, capable of simultaneously working on multiple projects (terminals, buildings, bridges, ports, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of ASME A17.1, ASME A17.2, ASME A17.3, ASME A18.1, New York City Building Code, IBC and New Jersey Codes including referenced standards.
  • QEI Certification is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
