The University of Mount Union seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as a full time core Physical Therapy faculty. He or she should have a strong academic background and demonstrated skill in both didactic and clinical teaching. This is a 12-month appointment. Candidates should have both an entry level degree in Physical Therapy (PT, BS; PT, MS, MPT,or a DPT) and an academic doctorate in a Health Science related field (e.g. PhD, EdD, ScD);. Candidates should be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a physical therapist in the State of Ohio and have no less that 3 years of contemporary clinical practice/with established teaching experience.

Responsibilities

A DPT faculty member have evidence of exceptional higher education teaching expertise in one or more of the following areas: acute care, differential diagnosis, cardiopulmonary, pediatrics, or pelvic health. Other areas may be considered in addition to these areas, but initial assignments will include these areas. Demonstrated skills in the following areas are highly desired: student advising, test writing that uses NPTE type questions as well as formative styles, assessment orientation with evidence based habits built into practices, clinically and academically, curriculum development and management, strategies for student retention, and effective mentoring skills. A research agenda or research background is required and evidence of such should accompany application. Faculty with demonstrated interest in our established pedagogy such as problem-based learning, elective topics, APTA recognized clinical specialization, gait, balance, and motor function are particularly encouraged to apply. Those with technical expertise in diagnostic ultrasound and/or motor analysis will be considered as highly desirable.. Our program has access to a shared motor analysis lab (utilizing Vicon Motion System), which offers research opportunities and potential collaborations with engineering and exercise science. Our Pro Bono initiatives, part of a community commons, are formed and set to expand. We have established interprofessional interactions with Stark State PTA program, NEOMED IPE network, Summa Health Networks, and our own OT program. Other collaborative avenues abound.
