Job Description:

Acquires proficiency in assisting pharmacy customers by gathering and recording initial demographic details and other necessary information. Enters essential data into the pharmacy system for record maintenance, insurance validation, label creation, and cashiering purposes.


Acquires proficiency in dispensing and distributing medications. This involves mastering the department's use of information systems, technology, and automated systems for medication storage and administrative tasks.


Develops expertise in insurance and third-party billing operations, including inputting customer demographics and third-party details, obtaining prior authorizations from relevant carriers, organizing prior authorization files, investigating and rectifying submission errors to third parties, and managing private insurance, workers' compensation, and third-party insurance claims along with prescription-related matters. Develops skills in clinical support requirements such as DIR fees as needed.


If applicable to the assigned location and workflow, actively promotes and assists customers in selecting and fitting diabetic footwear, processes insurance billing (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial), and maintains accurate documentation.


If required, a floating technician becomes proficient in pharmacy workflows across various pharmacy locations.


Gains expertise in pharmacy protocols and documentation to meet legal, regulatory, and departmental practice standards.


Adheres to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substance protocols and USP requirements.


Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate for patient care across different age groups. Understands principles of growth and development throughout the lifespan, interprets patient data, and applies information to meet age-specific patient needs as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.
