Job Description:

The Role:

Our site in San Luis Obispo is seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to join our team. The Lead Control Systems Engineer will lead a team of Entegris engineers and contractors in delivering control systems solutions for Entegris product lines under the guidance of the manager and leadership team and following established engineering processes and protocols.

What You’ll Do:

  • Inspecting and Monitoring Equipment: Lead controls engineers assess existing equipment, ensuring it operates efficiently and meets safety standards.

  • Developing and Implementing Control Panels: They design and implement control panels, which regulate machinery and processes.

  • Resolving System Issues: When control systems encounter problems, lead controls engineers troubleshoot and correct issues promptly. This is applicable to both our products and our Facilities.

  • Technical Assistance: They provide expertise to other teams, assisting with control system integration and optimization.

  • Managing Capital Projects: Lead controls engineers oversee projects related to control system upgrades, expansions, or new installations.

  • Supervising Construction Engineers and Safety Guards: They coordinate with construction teams and safety personnel to ensure smooth implementation.

  • Collaborating with Client Project Management: Maintaining communication with clients and project managers is essential for successful project execution.

  • Control Systems Design: Lead other engineers to design a process control system from scratch based on design inputs from process and Electrical engineers.

  • Leading Process Improvement Efforts: Leading other controls engineers and others into process improvement, Kaizen projects

  • Ability to Operate in multi-functional Teams: The Lead must be able to work through projects in multi-functional teams, be able to communicate tasks and results, and lead where necessary.

  • Ability to work seamlessly with contractors: We have multiple contractor resources that provide services to us. Being able to manage them and work with them is a necessity.

  • Manager stand-in: The Lead should be able to stand-in for the Manager in the absence of the latter.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

What We Seek:

  • 7+ years’ experience in industrial environments as controls engineer with progressive career growth

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics degree; Masters Degree preferred.

  • PLC & HMI coding – focus on Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens

  • Design control systems from scratch using engineering inputs.

  • SCADA systems and OT networks

  • Previous experience with leading controls engineers

  • Familiarity with SAP environment

  • Familiarity with code change management systems

  • Industry experience – O&G, power, semi-conductors, regulated industries like life sciences
