General Summary: UMass Boston Ombuds Services is looking for a graduate employee to support the activities of the office with a focus on undergraduate student outreach and assistance.Ombuds Services is a confidential resource for any UMass Boston community member experiencing a university-related problem, conflict, or concern. The Ombuds can help individuals think through complex issues, understand their options, and consider next steps. Where appropriate the Ombuds can provide practical assistance toward a resolution. As a confidential, informal, impartial, and independent third party, the Ombuds is unbiased and "off-the-record." Using Ombuds Services is always voluntary and free of charge. Examples of Duties: Ombuds Services needs support with the following:
  • outreach activities including social media, tabling, postering, info sessions, etc.

  • developing and compiling student-focused resources

  • assisting with workshops and presentations

  • providing assistance to undergraduate students in accordance with the ombuds standards of confidentiality, informality, impartiality, and independence.

  • Qualifications: The candidate must be enrolled as a graduate student in a relevant major (Conflict Resolution, Higher Education, Counseling, or similar). Applicants should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and experience supporting undergraduate students in a higher education setting. Knowledge and aptitude with social media is appreciated.
