Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems' Corona office seeks a motivated and talented entry level bridge engineer to join our growing engineering team. This position will include engineering and design of bridges, retaining walls and other transportation structures, construction document preparation including plans, specifications and estimates for a variety of projects, including highway, rail, road, site development, storm water management and utility design projects.  Day-to-day assignments and technical guidance will be directed by a direct supervisor, senior bridge engineers, and project managers at TranSystems. This position will also involve coordination with clients, subconsultants, vendors, and personnel in the Corona office and other TranSystems offices.

General Duties & Responsibilities


  • Learn and utilize applicable codes, regulations, guidelines, and industry standards to solve a variety of structural and technical challenges

  • Develop accurate engineering deliverables with quality presentation while meeting project budgets, schedules, and company standards

  • Prepare and review the following:

    • Structural design calculations

    • Technical reports

    • Contract drawings, technical/design sketches, and presentation graphics

    • Detailed quantity calculations

    • Cost estimates

    • Technical specifications



  • Participate in field reviews, site visits, and inspections for data collection

  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients, subconsultants, and other project stakeholders.

  • Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, inspection records, etc.

  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager or supervisor as to expected results, workload, and progress on assigned tasks

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil and/or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college.

  • 0 to 3 years of experience in structural bridge engineering assignments

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)

  • Familiarity with structural material mechanics, analysis, and design principles

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience working with Caltrans and other local transportation agencies

  • Experience with bridge design and development of engineering deliverables

  • EIT Certification

This compensation range is specific to the State of California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; internal peer equity; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At TranSystems, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000-$90,000 annually.
