Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) Manager to oversee all aspects of food safety and quality assurance at our large meat production plant in Macon, GA. The FSQ Manager will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards to guarantee the production of safe, high-quality meat products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., USDA, FDA) and company requirements.
  • Lead and manage the FSQ team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to ensure team effectiveness and professional growth.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of the production facility to identify potential food safety hazards, quality issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the implementation of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and sanitation teams to ensure adherence to food safety and quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Investigate and resolve food safety and quality issues, including customer complaints, non-conformances, and deviations from standards.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to food safety and quality, and develop action plans to address any deficiencies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping of all food safety and quality activities, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety and quality, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, customers, and third-party auditors regarding food safety and quality matters.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance within the meat production industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMPs, and other relevant food safety regulations and standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across departments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Certification in HACCP, SQF, or other relevant food safety programs is highly desirable.
