We are seeking an established Chemical and Materials Engineering professional to conduct various chemical and materials engineering activities in support of our objectives and goals. This role involves developing new materials and chemical manufacturing processes, monitoring material performance, and designing the layout of equipment and the arrangement of operations to optimize efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with plant and engineering staff to identify and resolve chemical or materials engineering tool-related problems.
Design and plan equipment layouts to optimize chemical and materials engineering processes.
Perform laboratory studies and tests for new products and proposed processes on a small scale (e.g., pilot plant) to ensure feasibility and viability.
Determine methods for fabricating and joining materials to develop and optimize materials for engineering designs.
Monitor material performance and evaluate deterioration to ensure compliance with specifications.
Design, develop, and test metallic and non-metallic structures or materials and their fabrication processes for engineering applications.
Research and develop new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
Optimize operations such as mixing, crushing, heat transfer, distillation, oxidation, hydrogenation, and polymerization for efficiency.
Analyze, research, design, and develop materials and their fabrication and application processes for engineering designs and applications.
Perform material analyses, including failure analysis, life predictions, and defining requirements and specifications.
Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes for metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials.
Review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
Audit manufacturability of existing products, recommending modifications to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
Conduct tests and measurements throughout production stages to control applicable variables.
Troubleshoot and solve production process problems with existing processes or equipment.
Analyze manufacturing processes and equipment to diagnose failures.
Analyze customer returns for root cause and lead corrective action efforts in collaboration with Product Engineering.
Develop and update PFMEAs.
Develop routings and labor standards and update the ERP System.
Write and/or modify manufacturing work instructions and acceptance test procedures.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience in Chemistry.
Strong analytical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient in O365 applications.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle E1, etc.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working in cross-functional teams.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data.
Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems.
Experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
