THIS ROLE:

As a Tylok Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating innovative and high-quality designs for Tylok's product line. You will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of new products or the enhancement of existing ones. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilizing advanced design software and methodologies, and overseeing product development from conception to final implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop new products aligned with Tylok's vision and market needs.

Design and Prototyping: Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs and prototypes of new products or product enhancements. Conduct tests and iterate designs based on feedback and performance analysis.

Material Selection and Analysis: Assess and select appropriate materials for product development, considering factors such as durability, cost, and performance. Conduct material testing and analysis to ensure quality and reliability.

Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all product designs adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. Conduct thorough research to stay updated on industry best practices.

Documentation and Specifications: Develop comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, design review presentations and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to guide product development and manufacturing processes. Maintain detailed records of design iterations and modifications. Create and implement appropriate work instructions including but not limited to material specifications (MTLs), work instructions (WIs), inspection instructions, updating the ERP system, etc.

Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of designs. Communicate effectively to relay technical information and resolve design-related issues.

Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline design processes, reduce manufacturing costs, and increase overall efficiency without compromising quality.

Product Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities for product improvement and innovation. Research new technologies, materials, and design methodologies to enhance product performance and competitiveness.

Personal Improvement and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging design trends, materials, and technologies. Implement innovative solutions to enhance product development and performance.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with SolidWorks
  • Preferred experience with pipe fittings and valves manufacturing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to handle a variety of assignments, changing priorities, and work schedules.
  • Able to work effectively with staff from all levels of the organization, including the shop staff.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • The flexibility/adaptability to work effectively and efficiently, whether working independently, cross functionally, or in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in print reading. GD&T and 3D CAD proficiency a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., walk, and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to see, hear, and speak in order to communicate with associates, vendors, customers, etc.

This position is located onsite at our Euclid, OH campus.
