Insight Global is seeking an engineering analyst to support one of our largest federal clients in Newport News, VA. The ideal candidate will possess an associate's degree in a technical discipline and a background in weight analysis including performing weight, center of gravity, and mass property calculations. This role is fully on site in Newport News, VA, working in an office environment. The ideal candidate will be able to spend the vast majority of their time working on a computer, will have a strong ability to perform scientific calculations, and be proficient with database usage. The role responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Must Haves:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree (technical discipline preferred)
Ability to work behind a computer full time
Ability to analyze large amounts of data
Can read and interpret engineering documents and drawings
Strong understanding of mathematics (volume, density, moments, etc.)
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with basic database usage and functions
Familiarity with 3D Modeling software
Plusses:
Prior military experience
Experience with Weight and Center of Gravity (CG) calculations
