The Power Systems SCADA/EMS Engineer is responsible for maintaining the power system network model that supports the Company's SCADA/EMS systems and state estimator.
Responsibilities
Ensures the accuracy of real-time data, visibility of statewide power flows conditions and the substitution process for data missing during communication outages
Configure and enter the appropriate company data as well as from other energy partners and cooperatives, field device parameters and linking data into the SCADA/EMS systems.
Ensure Remote Terminal Units are correctly connected to SCADA/EMS for both transmission, substations, and generation equipment.
Model the power system equipment (transmission lines, transformers, breakers, loads, etc.)
Define how the power system components are connected to each other in which Substation drawings are used as a reference.
Enter power system component electrical parameters from Planning Engineering
Link data from other sources (e.g. meters' power flow, RTUs' breaker statuses, other utilities' breaker statuses via ICCP, etc.) to the appropriate part of the model.
Ensures accurate modeling of state estimator, security analysis, transient limit calculator (TLC), optimal power flow (OPF), locational marginal pricing (LMP) and AGC in the OTS
Designs enhancements to the EMS system to improve the user interface
The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and one year of power industry experience.
Deep knowledge of power industry's equipment and power flows.
Able to interpret one-line diagrams and various engineering documentation or systems to obtain relevant data.
Adapt or scale values appropriately.
