Description of Position: Serves as a Future Concepts Analyst, performing concept development and studies related to programs and initiatives within USSPACECOM and defense space enterprise.

Position Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development, assessment, and evaluation of joint concepts. Produces products guiding joint force design and development decisions advancing the operational effectiveness of the future Space Joint Force and enable the introduction of new capabilities.
  • Researches, develops, and integrates solutions to joint space capability gaps. This includes collecting input from the Services regarding capability shortfalls and conducting capability gap assessments based on joint concepts and CONOPS supporting space joint force development and design.
  • As a functional SME, writes and develops joint capabilities, concepts, CONOPS, handbooks, white papers, and supporting documents.
  • Leads core writing team working sessions, analyzes input and develops space focused concept outlines, drafts, and final products based on synthesized core writing team input as well as another research.

Key Skills & Abilities:
  • Expert knowledge in writing concepts with focus on joint and multi-Service level strategies to shape the future of the Joint and Coalition Warfighter.
  • Expert knowledge in identifying and proposing solutions to future problems across the joint spectrum to include Services, Multinational and Coalition Forces, and Department of Defense.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of USSPACECOM, Joint Staff, Services, interagency, Multi-national, and Coalition organization, missions, force structure, warfighting concepts, tactics, techniques, procedures, and doctrine.
  • Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.

Qualification Requirements:
  • Experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing joint or service concept development.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Position requires drug testing.
  • Occasional travel away from the regular duty location may be required.
  • May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
