Our client in North County San Diego is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their team on a full-time basis! Candidates experienced processing payroll for a smaller to mid-sized company are encouraged to apply. Seeking multi-state payroll experience alongside strong Excel skills.
Compensation: $110k to $120k plus equity.
Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Own payroll from start to finish for over 150 employees in 30+ states.
Process monthly and quarterly pay-out on commissions.
Work independently to troubleshoot issues in the system (validate items, and work with Paycor on solutions to implement going forward) must be able to think through problems, work through issues, and through to solutions.
Monitor PTO in the systems, administer LOA (putting EE's LOA in system, monitoring how they accrue.
Make sure benefits deductions are correct.
Review benefits billings to ensure they are accurate.
Handles the accounting side of payroll: recurring journal entries for accrued PTO, accrued benefits, etc.
Help with 401k, workers comp audits, tax filings.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of payroll managerial experience OR 8+ years of professional payroll experience as a manager or supervisor in lieu of a degree is required.
Full-cycle, multi-state payroll is required.
HRIS system experience is required.
Strong knowledge of payroll including gross-to-net-calculation, disposable earnings for garnishments, payroll tax regulations, pre-post tax benefit deductions, fringe benefits, equity, and their impact to net pay.
CPP designation is a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office: strong Excel skills is required - experience with Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Sum-If, XLOOKUP, etc.
Must be self-motivated, organized, plus embrace the change and uncertainty that comes working in a start-up environment.
