Summary:
Sun City Summerlin Community Association Inc (SCSCAI) is a master planned 55+ active-adult resort community organized in the City of Las Vegas by Del Webb Corporation in 1989. It is currently a self-managed homeowners association with 7,781 homes, three golf courses, two restaurants, diverse recreational facilities, and clubs. The Association also publishes a monthly magazine for the residents. As part of the accounting department the ability to adapt to change and diversity is important since understanding multiple business models is the key to supporting the Department Directors and being able to produce the monthly financial reports for various committees, the Board of Directors, and homeowners.
The Senior Accountant II for SCSCAI must have a strong diverse general ledger accounting background with the education and experience necessary to fulfill a wide range of accounting tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
Description of Duties: • Handle bi-weekly payroll processing and related payroll tasks. • Handle oversight, review and general ledger recording of financial activity for event ticketing. • Maintain and update fixed assets files, including month end depreciation schedules. • Assist in overseeing lease relationships and monthly accounting for leases. • Prepare a wide range of month-end closing journal entries. • Perform general ledger account reconciliations. • Perform complex research and analysis as needed on general ledger account transactions. • Review and prepare files for monthly Sales Tax filing. • Assist in month end roll up of financial report. • Assist in annual budget preparation. • Prepare annual Clark County personal property declarations. • Learn tasks as performed by other staff in the accounting department. • Prepare documents as requested by the independent auditors of the financial statements. • Assist with compiling accounting information to be used by the insurance agency in acquiring annual bids. • Ensure excellent customer service to the Association residents and to internal staff members. • Additional duties relevant to this position and as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Motivated to perform all task efficiently and with accuracy • Problem solving and analytical skills • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines • Ability to work autonomously, within the limits of the job scope • Ability to work as a team member to support and oversee accounting staff to accomplish goals • Advanced accounting skills, including but not limited to a strong understanding of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll • Working knowledge of banking • Advanced computer knowledge in EXCEL and Microsoft Office Suite it is a plus if it includes ability to create and work with Pivot Tables • Working knowledge of Federal and Nevada State tax laws • Working knowledge of Clark County Personal Property and Real Estate taxes • Experienced in GAAP-Generally Accepted Accounting Principals • Understanding of fund accounting is a plus • Knowledge of Paylocity, Jonas, and Sage Fixed Asset software are a plus • Ability to use machines and equipment typically found in today's office environment. • Ability to work across many departments with staff that have varyng levels of accounting knowledge to solve problems and achieve results • Enforce and apply safe work practices • Good decision making skills with judgement and priority • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred • Five years relevant work experience in related field of accounting-HOA or Country Club accounting experience is a plus • Three years of performing upper level accounting tasks • Working knowledge of GAAP • Working knowledge of Federal and Nevada State tax laws • Working knowledge of Clark County Personal Property and Real Estate taxes. • Able to give and receive written, oral and visual instruction and communication • Valid Driver's License to operate any company vehicle (and minimum state required auto insurance on personal vehicle)
Physical Demands and Work Environment: • Physical Demands: Walking, sitting, bending and standing for prolonged periods. Lifting up to 35 pounds. Sufficient strength and stamina to ensure a productive work environment. • Work Environment: Risks and discomfort typical of an office/meeting environment with exposure to hot or cold temperatures and light noise exposure. Requires performing job functions in compliance with all SCSCAI policies including applying all SCSCAI safety and procedures.
