The Role:
The role requires a strong communicator with previous experience within the construction industry and an advanced knowledge of managing work in progress (WIP). As financial controller, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day finance function and providing strong and collaborative leadership to the finance team. We will rely on you to ensure robust controls are in place around TAX obligations and that information produced by the finance team is accurate and complies with accounting principles and company policies. Monthly you will provide timely analysis of management accounts, and consolidated financials Assisting with the preparation of reporting materials for strategic operations meetings the financial controller will be a central point of contact for audit and other statutory reporting.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the overall preparation of year-end and half-year-end audit and financial statement preparations with the Group reporting requirements.
Actively manage the company's cash flow and liquidity, ensuring sufficient and appropriate finance facilities are maintained with external banks and financers including reporting and covenant compliance
Ensuring that an organization meets the necessary tax, permit and licensing requirements.
Tax preparation with our external accounting firm.
Providing external auditors/bankers with the necessary documentation and support.
Oversee and manage key aspects of strategic initiatives working collaboratively with the Corporate Development team
Manage the operations of the finance department including working closely with the Financial Accounting team, AP team, AR team, procurement and payroll including training and recruitment
Internal controls and policies and procedures - drive improvements to increase efficiencies, minimise risk and ensure legal compliance
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Oversee month-end accounting processes
Contribute to commercial decision-making
Accruals/prepayments/standing journals
Communicate changes, updates and important information to the Finance Team
Actively look for opportunities to improve processes utilising new technology
Provide leadership for the business and oversight of the business including WIP
Manage the preparation of yearly budgets and rolling forecast
Professional Skills
Minimum of 6 years' demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller.
Professional accounting qualification. (CPA/CA)
