Summary/Objective
The Underwriting Assistant will work directly with our senior underwriting staff to accomplish a wide variety of tasks. This entry-level role will be responsible for reviewing documents submitted by clients to determine eligibility for insurance; inputting data into our proprietary appraisal pricing tool to verify values of fine jewelry; making recommendations on high-value schedule applications; responding to consumer inquiries regarding coverage; resolving issues and following up with clients regarding insufficient documentation. No prior knowledge of the jewelry/watch market is required. This opportunity will prove as a rewarding, fun, and challenging experience for any candidate. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Excellent communication skills
Ability to wear multiples hats simultaneously
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proven ability to perform well in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment, with the capacity to make sound and efficient decisions
Sales and customer service experience is a plus
Candidate with insurance experience is preferred
Experience with jewelry or valuables insurance is a plus
Digital native; ability to work with a variety of proprietary online applications and tools
Responsibilities
Analyze high risk applications, document thought process, and recommending course of action for the company
Gather relevant data for your team to make informed underwriting decisions
Assess photo and appraisal documentation of jewelry/watch schedules
Verify values of items using internal and external sources
Resolve issues with documentation and follow up with clients
Manage underwriting process for customers including quotes, applications, policies, renewals, and cancellations
Support senior underwriting staff by processing documentation and maintaining communication with clients
Entry-level troubleshooting of user issues with BriteCo's proprietary jewelry and watch appraisal system
Provide prompt, accurate, and friendly customer service via phone, email, and online chat- service can include responding to inquiries regarding insurance availability, eligibility, coverages, policy changes, transfers, claim submissions, and billing clarification
Contribute as a valued voice in the company to meetings regarding product updates, performance standards, and recommendations for improvements
