We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Billing Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis. This hybrid role requires working 3-4 days per week in our Paramus, NJ office. The primary function of the Legal Billing Assistant is to collaborate closely with in-house attorneys, paralegals, and finance staff to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the billing process.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform the billing process accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve open balances promptly.
Ensure costs remain within the requisite budgets by coordinating budget information with accounting and finance professionals across multiple business units.
Prepare monthly accruals accurately.
Ensure rate sheets are approved timely.
Provide necessary support to external auditors on Legal Department accounting matters.
Perform other tasks as directed by the Senior Director, Legal Operations.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of electronic billing platforms, with experience in Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker being a plus.
Ability to produce and understand data analytics is a plus.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel, and Google Workspace (Google Docs and Sheets).
Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Sound judgment and discretion in decision-making.
Effective interfacing with all levels of management.
Strong ability to prioritize multiple work assignments.

Experience:
3-5 years of billing experience, preferably in the legal field.
