FGS Global (FGS), a leading strategic communications and government relations firm, is seeking a motivated, sharp and energetic junior-level professional to join the firm's Strategic Communications practice. This position is within the practice's Energy & Sustainability group and based in our Washington, D.C. office.
FGS's Energy & Sustainability group has taken on and solved some of the most complex communications and government affairs challenges spanning a wide spectrum of climate, environmental, sustainability and energy issues. Our team is uniquely positioned to help clients navigate these issues with a mix of deep issue expertise, an unparalleled network of connections, and a two-decade track record at the vanguard of climate, clean energy, and sustainability conversations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and/or compile daily press clips for multiple clients
Assist client teams in prep for meetings/pitches
Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, owned media content, etc.)
Build and maintain press lists
Pitch wide variety of media contacts
Prepare briefing documents, talking points, etc.
Administrative support for client teams and senior staff, including scheduling, preparing and submitting expense reports, booking travel, and filtering internal and external requests
Maintain knowledge of evolving policy and political issues that impact the energy & sustainability sector
Contribute to firm's new business process and efforts
ATTRIBUTES
A BA/BS degree in a related field and 1-2 years of relevant internship experience
Specific familiarity and experience with energy & sustainability issues
Extremely strong writing and communications skills; ability to produce clear, concise press materials within tight deadlines
Superior research and editing skills
Ability to identify and cultivate key media contacts and outlets for a range of clients
Experience pitching stories to local and national news outlets
Experience with rapid response or 'war room' efforts
Strong strategic thinking and long-term planning skills
Ability to project manage and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

In Washington, D.C., the base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $60,000-$60,000 USD. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
